HOW TO SPIRITUALLY GROW

How can a person spiritually grow? What does that entail? In this article, we will cover the 3 things that contribute to your spiritual growth. Let’s dive in!

Okay so the first attribute of spiritual growth is practicing the spiritual disciplines.

Not just practicing them, but making them into a habit. This includes bible intake, prayer, fasting, etc.

There are many spiritual disciplines and we should be implementing these things into our lives. The main reason we practice the spiritual disciplines is to connect us with God.

Whether it is connecting with him through His Word, prayer, solitude…the way we grow in our spiritual walk is to ‘walk’ or be in connection with our Father. And intentionally practicing these spiritual disciplines will do that.

The second attribute of spiritual growth is using your spiritual giftings.

The bible says we all have been gifted with a spiritual gift.

Weather it is teaching, leading, prophesying, exhortation, etc. we are to be actively using our giftings to edify the Church. If your interests are in worship, women’s ministry, children’s ministry, etc… you should be actively involved.

The purpose of using our spiritual giftings is to connect with others and pointing them to Christ. Serving God’s people through your giftings and talents will contribute to your spiritual growth.

The third and last attribute of spiritual growth is developing spiritual fruit.

According to Galatians 5:22-23, the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Wouldn’t it be amazing to possess all of these qualities!? These are the qualities that we should be aiming for as Christians. The purpose of developing spiritual fruit is to enhance our character to be more Christ-like.

So there you have it! If you are actively practicing the spiritual disciplines, intentionally using your spiritual gifts, and developing the fruit of the Spirit, you will surely grow in your spiritual walk with Christ!

So I’m curious about you!

What are your spiritual giftings? What ministry are you actively serving or wish to be a part of?

Which fruit of the spirit are you wanting to develop more?
